Re: Ludicrous Christian comments. :-)

Tom, I'd be very surprised if you could find many scientists who believe
they can prove or disprove such a thing as the existence of God. I'm sure
you could find a few renegades, as with anything, willing to say they could
do it just with pure logic, but every theoretical physicist / cosmologist
I've read (and it's one of my favorite topics, so that's quite a few) seems
to agree that there's no way to know anything about what happened before the
big bang (if there even IS such a thing as "before" it - all speculation,
again), or why it happened, or anything like that.

And I'm sorry if you think I put words into your mouth. Given the topic
lately, I assumed from your statements about the fallibility of science and
its inability to disprove the existence of God, that you were trying to
imply that it's therefore reasonable to assume that God does exist. I
thought that was a reasonable interpretation of your words, but perhaps not.

Finally, if you don't believe global warming is an issue, that's cool. I'm
just a little surprised that you think you know more about it than the most
prestigious scientific bodies on the planet. such as: internationally, the
IPCC, World Meteorological Organization, UNEP, the highest scientific bodies
in the U.K., Germany, Russia, France, Brazil, China, Japan, Canada, India,
Italy, and so on... and nationally, The Nat'l Academy of Sciences, the Nat'l
Atmospheric and Oceanic Association, the American Meteorological
Association, the A.A.A.S., N.A.S.A. , the E.P.A.... not to mention at least
99% (literally) of the published scientific journal articles on the subject.
So... all I will say is, go argue with them.

It's obvious you'll believe whatever supports your assumptions,
regardless
of fact, or what's "provable." It seems to me you're going in the wrong
direction with it....

That's pretty funny considering that science has a tendecy to do the same
fucking thing at times. ;o)

First, who said anything about science proving the existence of God? If
that
were possible, how "magnificent" would any God be? Is not God, the way
it's
usually defined, transcendental and metaphysical (beyond detection,
"beyond
physics")? Of course... or else it would not be God. So, I agree with you
that science can never solve the deepest mysteries of life. It does not
set
out to.

Sorry I'm on topic. See the first thread and video.
Science is determined to prove that there is no God.

My previous point about "if God has always existed, why can't we just as
easily say that the universe has always existed" has been misunderstood.
I
should have explained it better. At some point, going backwards in the
causal chain, for something to be eternal, you'd have to eventually say
that
it "just is, and has always been," right? This is what is typically
assumed
about God. But this is, again, metaphysics - something we could never
know
or prove. It's beyond our physical universe. And once you're in the realm
of
metaphysics, all bets are off, so... you can just as easily say that the
universe has always existed (no need for God to have created it), because
it
"just is, and has always been," expanding and contracting an infinite
number
of times... or you could say that "zwadna" (make up your own words here!)
"just is, and has always been." There are no limits. And all this even
ignores the fact that, until you define precisely what "God" IS, trying
to
prove it's existence or even talking about it is pretty much nonsense....

As to the oil, there's no doubt that it continues to form, but that's
only
over immense, geological time scales. The oil that's extracted now began
to
form *millions* of years ago. For more oil to form, precise conditions
must
exist for the right kinds of life, then that life has to die under
certain
precise geological conditions (the remains of the organic matter must be
covered with the right kinds of sediments, in the right places in
relation
to the tectonic plates, and so on). All this has to happen in order to
subject this organic mixture to the intense temperatures and pressures
needed to produce the right kinds of hydrocarbon chains. If you think
this
oil renewal is something that's going to happen within a few decades,
you're
deluding yourself.

Oh, so now your putting words in my mouth. I was merely pointing out
flawed
Science.
They were Certain the Oil was from Ancient Reptiles and that was it. There
were wrong.
Stick around long enough to see how full of *** they are about a natural
warming trend
called global warming. ;o)

Science is a revolving door that proves one thing one day and the next
finds
that it was not entirely true.
There is now SCIENTIFIC evidence to suggest Oil is renewable and
created
by
plate movement and decaying matter under the ocean.
It was once thought when it's gone that's it. I'm not impressed with
everything science has "PROVEN"
Can Science prove someone is an ***? ;o) Can Science Prove the
existence of God? No, and it never will.
The things science chases are elusive. It's that way for a reason. We
are
not smarter then the force responsible for life
and never will be. Science claims a whole bunch of *** that defies
logic.
Science is not the final word or truth
on anything except formula's , numbers and spreadsheets. What it all
means
in many cases in open for interpretation.
I work with Research Scientists everyday and I see just how flawed
humans
are when it comes to thinking they have all the answers.
Science can build machines and do all sorts of cool *** like send a
rocket
to the moon but it will never figure out the secret to life.
That I am sure of.
