Re: Pics and Update

Digging into it, I found the guy used a different pait for the flames, the
fill in, and then the back coat. I have the drum completed after about 4
hours of labor. I thought it would be shorter. I'll have some pictures up
tonight. I am picking up the floor tom and tom mounts tomorrow as well as
FT legs and bass drum mount.

Pretty cool stuff...

You can see the person wo had them needs an ass kicking. You can see
the
place where I peeled up some of the paint on the bass drum already. I
seriously think with some slight heat from a hair dryer, I can get the
whole
thing cleaned up in an hour or so. It came up really easy. I got all the
stickers off already. I learned a new trick in that... I started lifting
the sticker with a scraper...then pulled the rest up. Any glue residue
came
right when dabbed with the sticky side of the removed sticker. Easy as
pie.
What I want you all to take notice of is the mount and the floor tom
legs the guy emplored. He went to A LOT of trouble to make his own
system.
Ironically, he used the exact holes of the factory when making his own. I
made one phone call and have 4 brand new 70's specs one and floor tom
legs.
The floor toms are custom cut, bent, and drilled brackets with
threaded
dowels that turn down to extend. Rubber capps of course. The tom thing
he
has take some metal and custom bent, drilled, and attached it. The post
was
a bongo mounting post. So you can see how he applied the bend of the
mount
to the post. Amazing.
I'll keep everyone posted as this project progresses.

I found a vistalite kit in a pawn shop today. 22,13,16,14 snare.
Clear finish. All are fine except the clown painted the inside of the
bass
drum with a flame patter. It is fully painted. Only the inside though.
is
there any way to restore that? I passed on it because I had no idea how
to
fix it. Ideas?
