Currently I'm not working with a band. My former band was made up of
friends, and we'd played together for well over a decade. We had a good
following throughout the area (even caterers were scheduling their gigs to
coincide with ours because of our material), but over the course of a single
year things fell apart. Two guys went through divorces (one immediately
remarried!), a third picked up a new girl friend, and a fourth's kids grew
up and left home leaving his wife with the 'empty nest' thing. The results
were predictable. New influences, different goals and one very impossible
wife. I'm now getting to know other musicians through jam sessions (a
couple of weeks ago I mentioned, in here, being loaned a drum set to mess
with in terms of tuning etc. That was a direct result of my meeting new
musicians in these jam sessions). I'm now getting pressure from a couple of
my new friends to get into something else, if for no other reason than to
buy another kit. I'm still working on that concept!
BTW, Gadd is playing in SLC on Monday. I'll be going :)
