I'd stay away from locking nutz unless you're using a Floyd style trem.

The locking tuners are great. I've sold all my guitars that had them, but I
love them.

One of the reasons you see Strats with the back plate removed. When you put
5 springs in the trem it makes string changes in the dark impossible.
usually you can force part of the broken string into the hole and dislodge
the stuck ball, but don't count on that working if you're under pressure (in
the middle of a song). FYI, I've played hundreds of gigs and never broken a
string at a gig. My brother has broken 3 strings on 2 guitars before the
first set was over, running out of spare guitars (and he plays .011's). So
I don't sweat the broken string thing much and haven't taken a spare guitar
to a gig in years. I just got tired of lugging extra gear to gigs.
