Ooops, you went off the rails there at the last minute. A day gig is some kind of necessary TASK that one must pursue to pay bills, buy groceries and so forth.
Many people actually use paid jobs to grow on a personal level and to express themselves even. You are repeating the old fashioned RMMGJ notion of all jobs outside music being dull and a necessary evil that is so often expressed here.
I never said all jobs outside music are dull or evil. I just called it a task. Neither is working as a musician inherently "starving to death" to make it in NY. I wasn't actually trying to cut down on the cliches and easy analysis, not bulk it up.
