Not to put too fine a point on it, but radio programmers, as I pointed out,
have indeed included Metheny and Kenny G in their well know smooth jazz
format.

You've "pointed that out" now about--what? Eight times? I think that qualifies as not "too fine" a point. I think of it as very very coarse.

You furthermore just recently informed me that "There *are* good players that
play within the limits of what is known as smooth jazz." did you not?

To answer your questions with questions: Do you see any difference between "good players" and the style in which they play? George Barnes played on a boatload of the early rock material, aggressively disliked it, took the pay check and went home. Would you call him a "rock guitarist", then, and "peers" with such as Chuck Berry, Link Wray, Duane Eddy?

To that extent I concluded that you were speaking out in favor of smooth jazz
and what you see as the meritorious qualities of the performers in that
genre.

Do you see any difference between a radio format, and a musician who happens to be culled by a program manager for that format?

Dogmatism kills jazz. Iconoclasm kills rock. Rock dulls scissors.
