What is all this shit?
Dunno.
Of course New Orleans is doomed, so is America
and the planet but long before that each and every one of us will be
dead and gone.
The Corps of Engineers aren't looking to fix your levees, so you will
probably be ok for awhile.
In the meantime, whether New Orleans is drowned or burned up by Satan's
messengers, there's food to be eaten, music to be played, women to be
loved and laughs to be had. Or--or are we supposed to concentrate on
the fleeting quality of life and the undoubtedly protracted and painful
deaths some of us will have with cancer up our colons or our prostrates
rotting out.
As a cancer survivor I can definitively say "Carpe diem." But when the
bill comes it will still be a cold water splash.
That might be somebody's idea of a time well spent but me: I'd rather
have some gumbo and tall gin and tonic on a hot night and concentrate
on my ephemeral joy first.
