It starts out cool but by the time he plays 3 choruses it is at full burn.

you know everytime someone posts a recent clip of pat i go: "please no repetitive open string lick on this one" and he does it *every*single time. i've read his reasoning but i'm not a believer. it's just plain boring crowd pleasing. compare this clip the the urgency he displays on "do you have a name". maybe is schedule his too demanding but to my ears he sounds pretty stuck these days. as if he's just administering the martino legacy.

You are right there is a lot of trademark stuff in his solos these days but if you go back and listen to that solo you will hear a lot of new things or older things used in new ways. There is a slight "outsideness" and angularity in this one that it isn't always present in his other efforts for instance.

ok, but he seems to be so focused on recreating his past. i mean he's done it all again, from the organ bands to the joyous lake fusion stuff to the duo ballad thing. and *another* wes montgomery tribute album. what i really liked was the clip on his website with his wife. he was really *playing* on that one.

still love him dearly.
