As a teenager, I used to go to Boston all the time to hear the likes
of David Moss and other ultra-out avants, and these Christmas concerts
always were the highlight of the year--a kind of modern and local Duke
Ellington-like Sacred Concert--and never failed to light me up with
some of the special magic I felt in this season as a kid.
I hope to be there this Sunday with my wife and son. So if any list
members might also make it let me know, and maybe we can share a hello
and a Merry Christmas or other non-denominational seasonal holiday
wow, another truly beautiful, life-affirming concert by these guys
tonight
they played a lot of Ellington's sacred concert music, and several
amazing, spiritually-resonant and texturally-vast Harvey arrangements
of assorted Hymns, as well as his own music.
The bands been together for almost 30 years now, and if any of this
sounds interesting you and don't already know him/them (Mark Harvey or
the Aardvark Orchestra) or the Emmanuel Church, check it out...i
really can't imagine anyone being disappointed------->and sorry i
didn't get to meet any other Boston/or-thereabout list members
tonight, even ones i might occasionally bicker with about this and
that here and there! all that stuff is all pretty unimportant next to
such uplifting reaffirmations.
