I had the same problem. Bought a top-of-the-line Logitech webcam back in
December with thoughts of using it for online lessons, but the resolution
and frame rate were just awful. Sent it back and bought a HiDef Sony
Mini-DV. For sure I'll have to bump things WAY down for the web, but if I'm
going to invest the time it takes to make all these videos, I'd like to have
them in a decent format in case I decide to repurpose them later (put them
on a DVD or whatever).

I made some videos using my webcam video and the built-in mike.
The sound quality sucks, even using the higher resolution.
I'm about to invest some $$$ to buy an external cam and a good mic.
