The H2 has a 3-way (H/M/L) switch, which controls the mic gain. There's
also an additional "input gain" adjustment which controls the digital level
post-ADC. It's not a true pad, but simply raises and lowers the mic gain
level.
The H2 also has a software switch for AGC ("automatic gain control"). When
the AGC is enabled, the 3-way (H/M/L) switch is disabled. However, the
digital post-ADC level control still continues to function.
The AGC control option sits in on a menu page with some limiting and and
compression options. If you choose the AGC, you cannot simultaneously use
limiting or compression.

Yes, I'm thinking of giving the stereo mini-mics a whirl. But even with<snip>
L/R stereo mics split apart, there's only so much that can be done with a
full band in a live room with just one pair of mics. Finding optimal
positioning could be a little tricky for me, since by the time the band
starts up, there's no way to tell if the new spot is better or worse
until the next break. There'd be a lot to be said for a familiar room in
this situation.
the r09 has a mic gain switch on the back..if your unit has the same..was
it set without the db cut?
