Peterson to be a bad example. Take the record they did with Zoot Sims
for example. They are both comping together and it sounds like a
popcorn machine, between these chord stabs everywhere and the snare
drum comps, it just isn't very musical for me.
I think rhythm guitar and piano comping is one of the greatest things
in the world. Feels so right when done well. Then there's Wes'
approach, which is to be a one man shout section. On "Full House",
Wynton Kelly will comp traditionally while Wes plays shout like
figures. I like that a lot.
