Re: My Days of W&R Take -- worth it, trust me!!!

One of my strings was a little out of tune, and the clams at around 3:50
pissed me off. But six minutes with that mask on was hell, so to speak. I
just couldn't bring myself to whack out another take.

Somehow I ended up with a title line at the end where it says "a performance
by . . . " I thought I deleted that, but it snuck back in at the end.
Wasn't intentional, but by that point I couldn't stand trying to fart around
with it anymore.

I went through hell, so to speak, trying to get things converted and synced
and find a program that would let me get this done. I recorded the guitar
direct into Sonar via the Alesis IO26. First I'd hit the webcam program
capture button, then hit record on Sonar. Then I re-amped and mixed the
guitar a bit, exported to a 16 bit wave and then imported both the .wav .avi
into various crappy excuses for a movie making program.

Nero Vision Express kept burning movies without audio or video and wouldn't
let me add pictures. I tried all kinds of compression algorithms etc., and
finally gave up on it. At least it was relatively robust though. I ended
up using Windows Movie Maker, but the damned program kept crashing.

What's weird is that even the original audio track recorded by the capture
program was out of sync after a while. My guess is that the capture
programs don't have a way of compensating for dropped frames. So after a
while the dropped frames add up to a slightly shorter timeline. Man, it's
totally retarded. It was almost enough to make me go Mac. If that Windows
Movie Maker is someone at Microsoft's idea of a decent program, they should
be fired. You'd think someone over there would figure how to make something
stable instead of adding more annoying "smart" functions to word processing.

Maybe if I had $1200 to spend on Nuendo or Vegas or something like that.

Inspired by Wamble's spooky video.

Video slips further and further behind the audio. I couldn't figure out
how
to get it to stay in sync all the way through.

I think you will find this worth the D/L!

That's devilishly good! But to be honest, I didn't appreciate the slam
against Gore by wearing that Gore mask :)-

Greg

nice playing. too bad about the sync problem between the audio and
fingers.
