Re: Hating my guitar synth...

I just got GR33 off eBay and I am very impressed - tracking is better
thank I thought and there are some neat patches on it (some bass,
saw, organ, pad and all that cosmic stuff). Electric piano is a bit
dissapointing. Vocal patches are not too bad. Tabla&Sitar is super
cheesy.

I want to explore the idea of looping with Boss RC50 and to make
complete backup tracks (drums/bass/keys) when playing live.
Maybe not for jazz but sortta jazzy world/african/jam stuff.

As for playing solos I do not think one can play a tenor sax solo
on GR33 and sound even remotely like a real thing - but some
synth patches (lead 70s saw etc) may be useful.

One thing that I found very appealing is that some patches require
very "un-guitaristic" phrasing so it is very easy way to break some
guitar cliches.

They're junk... I go to rolands website and other places and the sounds
are excellent, which tells me that they are using a factory-modded
version, not the street version we all have to use!

I play a line on my synth and it sounds fake; they play a line and it
souds like a professional device.

I play an organ patch, say, and they play the same thing. Mine sounds
like a $29 organ; theirs sounds like a real organ.

Obviously, they are using a device other than mine! Dont think so?
Well, you just listen to a pro play through a synth and then listen to
me! You'll immediately realize as I did that they are using different
synths than me!

PS. It's in the hands... yadda-yadda-yadda; heard it all before and if
it was in the hands, I'd be able to do it after all these years! You
all know the quality of music I put out, so you have to agree with me
on these synths, obviously... and not only that, but the guitars I have
are junk as are my amps, else I shoul sound like million bux after all
hte money I've spent! It's these damn synths, gutiars, and amps that
are at the root of all my music problems!
