This morning when I booted up, a file had disappeared. Not in the
recycle bin, not in documents, a search turns up nada. Into thin air.
Any suggestions as to where to look?
Don't have any ideas offhand but where in the directory structure was
it located and what was its name? When was the last time you did
anything with it and what did you do? Any chance it could have gone
missing long before your reboot?
It's an Excel file, it was in MyDocuments, I access it daily, including
yesterday. I can rebuild most of it from a backup copy, but I'll be
missing some current data. This has never happened before, a file
disappearing like that. I better up my backups to weekly.
Very unlikely but when you search, are you also searching for hidden
files? if you clicked the wrong checkbox you could have changed this
to a hidden file.
You should also do a disk scan to make sure you don't have a corrupted
directory structure.
