I saw one for under $500 with a cutaway; looked like a little flattop.
I started seeing the possibilities of a uke with 51st Dates and that
wonderful vocal medley that Hawaiian guy does in the movie and then
with youtube.

You don't have to spend money like that. Check out the Lanikai's. I
have a concert, tenor and baritone.
