Continue picking in the direction of the next string. This results in
consecutive down or up picks depending on which way you're going. If
you stay on one string, obviously you alternate. people try to play
odd numbers of notes on a particular string if ascending or descending
but that's not absolutely necessary.
Ahh, interesting... I probably already do this occasionally, instinctively, without knowing it, certainly "Sweeping" through a chordal voicing, is an example of this.
