Jazz is pure American music.
How come it is more popular in Europe than in the US?
I think the time has long since past that the label "pure American" can
be put on jazz, it now belongs to the world community. I would agree
with the concept that culture comes into play. Jazz is all about the
"live" experience, which would seem to fit right into the communal
culture of European communities. Has the U.S. created a culture of
going home after work (after picking up a "to go" order of baby back
ribs!), locking the door, turning on the security system, loading the
gun, and then turning on the TV for entertainment?
