Re: action height what is yours?

I play a Gibson 175 and have a measured height of 5/64's on both E
strings. I use Thomastik BeBop 13's.

I would like to know what others have their action set on their Archtop

want to get a idea what others have at the 12th fret. One thing to keep in
mind is that Gibson says an acoustic archtop should be 5/64 and 6/64 for the
the high and low e strings. That certainly is ok I call this a medium
action. You will need a small metal ruler that has marks at 32nds of an inch
to do this. I am particularly interested in what most of your 175's are set
and what you like as action. Measure from the top of the fret to the bottom
of the string.

Here is mine on my Hollenbeck. 4/64 at the high e and 5/64 at the low. I
find this pretty low action but nothing like what I have seen on some
electrics. My other guitars are pretty close to these measurements. The
Albanus is 4/64 and 6/64. I can get them lower but it makes for loss of
sound and not a clean.
