Joe, talk to your son. I'm sure he can give you some insights to this
unusual but real phenomenon. I've been told that Texting is very addicting.
My self; I don't see the appeal, but is very popular. Go to any collage
campus and see how many kid's text in class, it's insane. Not to mention
they will call somebody walking between classes, just to say hey 'what's
up'. Its like they can't be alone they got to talk to some one.
I personally don't like cell phone. But that's because people abuse
them and turn public and semi public place in to there own private office or
lounge. It kind of like that Bill Cossby joke where he tells of a small
child getting/stealing a cookie and gets caught because he not smart/old
enough to figure out that sound travels. When I see people walking and
talking on their cell I often get the picture in my mind of some one hold a
mirror in their hand and saying, " Don't I look so cool"
Having sad all that maybe the couple was showing you the utmost respect
and didn't want to disturb you wile you were playing. Maybe they were at
that point in a relationship were there not much to talk about or say to
each other. I'm with you about it being rude, but they're no laws against
that. Sure it odd behavior but I'm not exactly sure what can be done about
it.
