Hmm... I've seen him a bunch of times and I agree that's where the
action is when he's doing the economy picking/sweeping, but was that
the case when he was alternate picking too?

I don't remember him being an elbow/arm picker... There was barely any
movement at all, and his arm moved up and down only across the strings,
but not up and down as if the picking came from there.

But your memory is fresher than mine (cuz I wasn't there last night!)

Yeah, that is what I consider his trademark thing... His lines are
flow so smoothly, it's incredible.

There are far too many things that are simply much less problematic to play with alternate or reverse alternate picking than with economy picking. ...
