Whoa.....
Raf, I think of you as a computer and net-savvy type if person. I
can't imagine how bad the problem was if you saw it as a "disaster".
When I have a problem with my computer, I take the whole deal up to
George Wirth.... Matter of fact, the lovely Miss Brenda stayed with
me for almost a week during my recent troubles and fixed the damned
thing!
I'm OK (barely) with cars.... These devil-machine digital devices
throw me into the tall weeds.....

Actually, It all started to go downhill when my ISP dropped its NNTP
server. I was using Individual.net successfully, but then the hinge
on my laptop started to go. When I took it in to the Apple store, I
didn't expect them to do what they did, they simply replaced to unit.
Bingo, there went my username and password for Individual.net, and I
haven't been able to resurrect it. Likewise with Eternal September.
I set up an account and made a note of the data, but I haven't been
able to get it to work. Furthermore, once my email address has been
used for one account with these providers, they won't let me open
another account with them. It's been a frustrating time.
I hope you're doing better. I happen to be in NJ, right now, but I'm
farther up than you are, Princeton, for now, then Piscataway.
