Oh, I'm just me, I don't read the friggin' from field when moving through a
newsgroup - I look at the topic and if it is possibly interesting I read
through the thread without looking at the from field, it is when I get to
the sig I see who wrote a post

Also, I read a post yesterday morning and commented on what's in it and I
can't know
what's not in it. It's the really democratic aspect of usenet, and it
remains so that things would have gone differently initially with a slighty
more informative signature. You can never expect that everybody knows you.

from field, but she does have an identifying signature.

That isn't
"Inner Circle", that's like a damned Yankee coming to the South and
telling them they have to do everything the they did up North.

That's not what this is about Jaf, but thanks for the comment anyway and
thanks to all that explained, I think I understand Pete, but it is not for
me to comment on the psychology of this here.

Also thanks to Wilbur, yes ... Pete is not anonymous, but it was the first
post from him I read and it read like it did yesterday morning. I took it
up, rather than just plonk him or unsubscribe which had been the
alternatives.

As Hank suggested this is the time to get on with the usual business of the
newsgroup. We can't change the past, but understanding what happened is
worthwhile.
