What?  Are you serious?  RIAA informs Rasset not to do that anymore
and she agrees?  Huh?  What world did this happen on?  RIAA sends out
cease and desist letters all the time that are ignored.  THAT is why
these cases go to court.  And this woman STILL doesn't think she did
anything wrong - why would she "agree" with the RIAA telling her to
stop?

The RIAA sends cease-and-desist letters threatening 'litigation' if
the parties do not agree to 'settle'  They do NOT offer the
opportunity for the party to cease and desist without having to
settle. Big difference.

And that is appropriate. A guy steals your car, and you think it's cool
to ask him not to do that anymore, but not get your car back, or any
compensation therefore?


Here is a real analogy. Someone takes a photo of custom work you did
on a car and posts the pics on a file sharing network. You find out
and contact them and say, thanks for the all that free exposure you
gave my creation, but I don't want you to distribute pictures of my
work without prior authorization and/or compensation. If you agree,
case closed.
