Options :
1. A super-cheap electro : if anyone knows of one of the budget brands
or models that puts out a decent electro signal, lets hear about it
2. A pickup for my Aria dreadnaught : it’s a full acoustic (was about
£180 new about 7 years ago iirc) so I don’t know if this might be a
faff in terms of feedback susceptibility ? If more knowledgable folk
think not then lets hear budget pickup options (no brittle clankiness
though if at all possible!)
3. Other suggestions?

If you like the sound of the guitar you have, and are playing at normal "open mic" levels (i.e. not at ear bleeding levels), my suggestion would be to find a K&K Pure Western Mini and put it (or have it put) in. There are several dealers in UK that carry them:

Typically (that I've found at least), those low budget electro's are going to have that brittleness you mention.
