Re: One for the luthiers...

Leaving a guitar in the car for any length of time just doesn't make any
sense at all. If it's in the passenger compartment it will be visible and
may well be stolen as well as fried. In the trunk it will be fried on a hot
day. Trying to determine a 'safe' temp. level is virtually impossible. Do
you mean safe ambient air temp, safe actual temp level in the car, in the
case? The outside air can be fairly moderate but the effect of direct
sunlight through windows and on the roof will create unbearable temps
inside, and will aggravate dry conditions terribly. There is no reliable
way to predict this sutff or to come up with a 'rule of thumb'. Just don't
do it. If you do, you will make work for either the police or your
friendly local guitar tech.

When you need to leave a solid wood guitar in the car for more than just a
few minutes (say a couple of hours at a time or more), what is a safe
temperture range, rule of thumb, etc. to avoid any damage?
