You sure it was food poisoning....
lots of virus's now with those symptoms ?
" oh my darlin', oh my darlin......."
( sorry....someone had to....)
c.
The timing and symptoms (looked it up at CDC) are right on for salmonella.
The really strange thing is that I had a cold when this started and all the cold symptoms went away until I started getting better this morning.
Dave
Any bacterial poison will give you the same sypmtoms - puking and
shitting. Salmonella from fruit though is really unusual - it's more
commonly associated with decaying or badly stored meat, as is E-Coli,
which produces the same symptoms.
It's much more likely someone was careles with the insecticides and
washing the fruit.
It's also possible that you reacted to food which had been irradiated
just a little too much - again, same symptoms. There's a famous story
about a guy who kept a bowl of oranges on his office desk for a month
or more and became fascinated by their lack of deterioration. They
finally went off after about 4 months. Organically grown oranges will
develop a greeny-blue bloom after just three or four days after
picking.
Tom Risner could prolly flesh (groan) this out, but my food hygene
experience (which is considerable, but not expert) tells me it's
unlikely to be salmonella.
Either way, hope you are feeling better now. If it persists, get some
antibiotics - a little penicillin goes a long way.
Pete
We have recently had a problem with pet food from overseas. It was paralysing and killing animals, particularly cats.
The manufacturers were originally blamed, but now suspicion is falling on heavy handed irradiation at out quarantine stations.
I don't know if we will eventually find out the truth.
MJRB
I would like to know more about this problem. I know that irradiation isn't popular, but, I believe it can be of benefit in food preservation.
