HOTELS?!! Susan if yall come anywhere close to my place and don't stop,
I'll not only skin yer hide, I'll skin those cats, too. The Risner Casa is
cat friendly and we serve beer. Only request is that ye give us notice of
when ye hit the county line so we can have our relatives and friends off the
roads.
Love ye, Babe!

I don't know much about cats, and yours in particular, but wouldn't they
be
a complete liability outside their own environment? Like disappearing off
into the bush* at the first comfort stop? Maybe you could do a test
drive,
eg overnight, and see how it goes.

After I wrote this, I thought about it & realized that I was being
selfish. Bringing the cats for me & not thinking about them howling
for 3000 miles about wanting out of the car. Also realizing how many
days it would take & how many nights in pet-friendly (read charge an
extra $100/night) motels we'd have to stay in. It would be cheaper to
buy two plane tickets so they both could go on board with me. Or to
pay for someone to come stay with them, which would be the most
humane.
So the trip across country - which I really want to do - will have to
happen when I have more time available!
