Ok. I'm thinking about doing something truly insane. Driving across
the country with my cats. I need to spend more time in Florida, but I
don't want to leave my cats for a month. So is this doable? How long
does it take? (I drive like the speed limit is a suggestion of where
to start). Or is this a totally crazy idea?

I've done this a time or two, but not since the recent speed changes. Parts of west Texas have a limit of 75 (or what you will). Have you tried Mapquest to get a drive time estimate? I once made it from San Francisco to east Nashville in 47 hours, total time, gas, meals and all, but we were in a hurry. <g>
(actually, mapquest estimates about 36 hours. That's not too bad, less than three twelve-hour days. Less if you hurry.)
