Hey Steve,

How was the concert this past Saturday? Were Pete, Mary, and Mark
amazing? Is Pete doing "Superstition" more amazing in person as it
is on video? Sure wish that I was there last week. BUt Saturday
was
great
(lesson with LJ in the morning, hanging with Ed in the afternoon
and
his
concert in the evening...all wonderful. Ed has a new set up that
is interesting.)

The show was great, but no Mary. She was on her way to Europe
Saturday morning.

Mark and Pete split the show and Greta sang several tune with them.

Cool.

Pete
was great, doing Superstition and a great story about a "potted
plant" gig he did in a hotel dining room that involved ZZ Top who
were staying there.

lol

There were a few John Denver stories and a lot of great playing.

I bet. I hope to see him in L.A. soon.

Oh yeah, Mark has retired the Collings and was playing a new guitar,
a Goodall!

WOW! Doug "turned" him I guess! Was it a jumbo like his?

James changed all his designs some years back. I think Mark has the
Concert Jumbo, just shy of 16" on the lower bout.

Interesting. I sure like the sound that Doug gets from his, but I've
yet to play one that I love for MY playing. I do admire the
workmanship, and I like the family a great deal in my limited exposure
at NAMM. By the way, during my "guitar weekend" a few days ago, I
played a 1965 Martin 00028 that was just fantastic. I also played a
Louden jumbo that felt nice and looked great, but I couldn't get it to
sound very good.

Ed's new set up that he's trying is very interesting. Three pickups (!)
and 2 preamps. Sounded good, but I've always loved his sound anyway.
This was all brought on by a new friendship between him and Leo Kottke.
Kelli now "hates" Leo lol
