I need to have some periodontal work done and have been offered the options
of sedation (triazolam) or just a local. For any of you out there who have
had to deal with it, what do you suggest? I'd be surprised if any of our
dentists want to "talk shop" in a guitar group, but I'd love to hear
opinions if any of you'd care to.

Thanks in advance.

Ed--When I had to get a tooth cut apart and removed, the surgeon just
did local. He pumped my mouth so full of whatevertheheck it was, he
could have set off a grenade on my tongue and I wouldn't have felt it.
My childhood dentist could have taken lessons from this guy...

It was a disturbing experience, still. Horrible noises...and
listening to the discussion while I was just laying there. And the
walls in this room were literally COVERED with pictures of John Wayne.
I probably should have done general...

I once had a dentist who played Deep Purple albums in his surgery. One
year I was worried about my wisdom teeth (all my friends - even the
imaginary one - were having problems with them) and asked him if mine
were coming through yet. He said "You've got two year old fillings in
your wisdom teeth."

I guess I got the teeth but not the wisdom.
