Let's start the thread here, maybe???

I can't even post anything there, so maybe someone could change the
header to "Thread Closed" or something.....

I may be more addicted to this group than I thought...... :-)

I didn't see your Obama post but my thoughts about the three Pres
candidates goes something like this.

McCain has given a lot to this country. He has been a POW and he seems
to have been a reasonable voice in Congress for a number of years

But he seems to have changed a lot over the last two years. It looks
like he has been sold on the Bush concept of governing even to the
point of saying that he now believes that waterboarding is OK. Two
years ago I would have never believed he would go that direction.

Clinton has also given a lot to this country. She has watched a
Republican congress and independent investigator drag her Husband's
name through the mud for 6 years and has endured the most vile
comments about her husband, herself and, at times, her daughter for
nearly 16 years now and she still wants to serve her country.

People that don't like her want to paint her as a person that is a
spiteful bitch. But she seems to have just as many friends and
maintains just as much respect from her colleagues on both sides of
the isle in Congress as any other congressperson.

Obama doesn't quite have the experience of McCain and Clinton but I
think he still has plenty enough to run this country if elected.

I don't see such a big difference in intelligence between these three
candidates as I did in the last two elections.

The two key issues that currently concerns me the most is the War in
Iraq and the Health Care situation.

IMHO it looks like McCain will maintain the war in Iraq just like Bush
did. But I don't see Clinton or Obama saying they will pull the troops
out right away either so the key is what will they do.

I believe what Ron Paul said when he said that this country is in for
a rough time like went through in the 1970's and early 80's paying for
the Vietnam fiasco.

I think that Clinton or Obama will get us out of Iraq sooner than
McCain would and I think Obama might do it a bit quicker than Clinton.

Clinton and Obama seems to be the only ones saying they will do
something about the health care situation and they both have some sort
of National Health Care program in mind.

I don't know if either of their plans will work but something has to
be done. A full 25% of my income goes to pay for my health insurance
and it is the same with my wife except mostly for her meds even with
the new Medicare drug plan. And a lot of people are a lot worse off
than that.

Of the three candidates, I prefer Clinton or Obama with Obama having a
slight lead because I think he is likely to be a bit farther away from
Bush's ideals than Clinton.

But I still think the real key for the continues success of this
country is to have a Congress that won't give the President anything
he wants and won't let the Executive office run rough shod over them.
