And I think I'm gonna be pretty good at it!

Being an ex-fed employee, I have had every sort of training of this
ilk you can imagine.  Some are way over the top; some are only
enlightening, and that is all that is necessary for reasonably smart
people.  Some instructors preached and insulted; some just told us.

The over-the-top ones were hard to sit through.  I flunked one of
them, but they considered who they were dealing with and just checked
off my name as having attended it.

The worst one was "Valuing Other Cultures."  They should never have
forced that course on engineers and scientists.  It was brutal to sit
through.

Re-sexual harassment...Condition 1.  A young secretary (female) at a
desk.  Fat nerd comes up and says, "You really look good today...you
want to do something exciting with me Saturday?"

Condition 2.  A young secretary (female) at a desk.  Tom Cruise
look-a-like comes up and says, "You really look good today...you want
to do something exciting with me Saturday?"

There should be no difference in these two conditions...but there are
because of the "unwanted" element.  I have seen some really funny
skits of politically correct invitations to a date and the date
itself.  ("I will now mount you...do I still have your permission?
Please state clearly so there can be no misunderstanding on my part.")

I am waiting for the class for ladies, "Understanding Your Male Work
Partners."  This would include proper dress to not arouse, avoiding
obvious double-entendres, and simple things like, "If you dress for
work in  a very attractive manner to the opposite sex, do not be
surprised if this is noticed and the reason you did it."

"If you wear a very tight sweater and are well endowed, or have a low,
loose blouse, it is not permissible for a male worker to touch you,
however, it is acceptable for him to notice this and perhaps politely
and quietly say, 'Wow! Nice tits!'"

This stuff is a major reason I'm looking forward to retiring. I
thoroughly enjoy my work but am sick of tip-toing through the
sensitivity-diversity etc. minefield and all the associated spam
emails, training blather etc.

You want a mine-field?  Try dealing with an unattractive Jewish female
engineer who was paranoid before hitting the menopause brick
wall...she has some other problems, too.  Man!  You talk about an
800-pound gorilla!

Now, she has decided that she is being avoided and no one likes her.
Duh!

But when an organization was called "Personnel,"  you had an idea of
what they were supposed to do.  Then it became "Human Resources," and
now it is "Human Capital."  "Human Bondage" and "Slavery" is next the
way they are going.

Ken

Ken,
I will simply say that for a number of reasons, I wish you had not posted
this.

Ken,

I agree with Tom. That doesn't make either of us right; it only means
we agree that what you said here is.... what it is, I suppose.

Look Out! Here come the PC police! Come on guys...
