As I get prepared to send my McAlister back to Roy for selling, I was
describing to some friends all the great, good and not-so-good guitars
that have come & gone in the interim. If I hadn't found this place, I
wonder what the list would have looked like ... would be such a
pathetic exercise in GAS and GAS-relief. In chronological order over
the last (when was EC1?) years:
started with a D-28 & an Applause
sold the D-28 (good, but too big)
bought a Santa Cruz
sold the Santa Cruz (good, but not my sound)
bought a Collings C-10 deluxe
gave away the Applause (to a school)
bought a McAlister
sold the Collings (very-good) because it was redundant
bought a Deering Banjo (needs to be sold)
bought a Collings Baby
bought a cheap resonator guitar
sold the Collings Baby (great) to pay for a
McCollum parlor
bought a slide guitar (also needs to be sold)
bought a little Martin
sold the little Martin (it was ugly)
gave the resonator to goodwill
sold the McCollum (great, but neck too wide)
bought a second little Martin (much better looking in red)
preparing to sell the McAlister (more than great, but full-scale neck)
This morning I had to talk myself out of driving up to Buffalo
Brothers because they have an Ad. Collings Baby. Does anyone know of a
12 step program for rmmga??? This reads like a soap opera while I've
gone full circle from one cheap guitar to another - is this a sign of
getting old?
So guys what are your rmmga soap operas?
csj
I bank at Buffalo Bros too! (I make lots of deposits there :) use to
live really close to them and drove past them to get to the airport -
talk about temptation.
If you don't mind the drive, there is a store up in Los Angeles called
McCabes. http://www.mccabes.com/
They have a wider selection of things but not as big a supply. They
have better prices on high end guitars though so you might want to
check it out if you can stand the traffic up there.
