Not the same thing at all, Michael. The discussion wasn't about protecting
somebody from harm, or self defense. Of course a person has every right to
protect themselves or their family members (or others) from harm. In fact,
there is a responsibility to do so. But that's not what we were discussing.
We were talking about domestic violence. And in that context... no matter
how verbally nasty one person might be to another, no matter how verbally
provocative a woman might be to a man (or vice versa) it does not excuse or
justify physical violence, ever. Because there is always the option of
walking away. "She made me hit her because she's a nasty bitch" just
doesn't cut it.


I agree with that 100%. But your statement was rather absoloute - "No

- there ARE some people who need hittin'. "Never"? "Not under ANY
circumstances"? I just wanted to provide an example where I would
justify clobbering someone.
