Which is the best? What to look out for? Is the screen size that

I'd appreciate your advice.
TIA...John
I, Luddite that I am, only have an Apex. I had to go out to Bob
Buick and get it out of the center arm rest. It is 3.5" x 6" screen
and has a detachable battery pack that is the same size as the
viewer...and weighs 3x as much. I generally have it plugged into
the wall or car.
I have laid on the bed with it on my chest and watched English
movies, but mostly, it is in the car where I play CDs with maybe
110, 30-minute old-time radio shows in mp3 files. (I have laid in
bed listening to old-time radio just like I did when I was a kid,
but I miss the honey glow of the celluloid radio dial...and green,
magic-eye tuner.)
In the car, I have the audio output going into my little FM
modulator that is plugged into the cigarette lighter, and that
transmits to my car FM radio. I have a "Y" power plug in the
lighter.
The screen is so I can see the menu of the radio shows and pick out
which I want to hear, and read who the guest is and the date of
broadcast.
It has a good remote that slips easily in a shirt pocket. I know it
seems funny to use a remote in a car but I know where the buttons
are without looking.
I might have paid $120 for it.
Get one...it doesn't matter what it costs. Say it is a holiday gift
to yourself. It is another one of those gadgets everyone should
have. Help the economy of both US and China at the same time.
They probably have them at Wal-Mart.
Ken
Thanks Ken.
John,
We've been through a couple of those little one's that didn't last
long at all, and a couple of specially purchased laptops, all in an
effort to entertain the kids on long road trips. The little DVD
players were both (maybe three?) discount store offbrand thingys that
went bad in well under a year. One of them might even have come from
the camera department at one of the grocery chains. From my
experience, I'd suggest keeping to more established brand names at a
few more bucks.
WRT to laptops, we found that there was not sufficient battery life to
watch a whole movie without an outside power source. We typically got
a sitcom or two at best without plugging in. Playing DVDs (and maybe
copying them to the hard drive would help) seems to deplete a battery
several times more quickly than just working on spreadsheets or word
processing or anything of that nature.
Jeff
Thanks Jeff,
That is my experience with my laptop battery. I can get up to 1.5 hrs use
working spreadsheets and such. On the whole, I have found that you get
what you pay for with the exception of unneeded (for me) features. Of
course there are exceptions. But when I'm ignorant about something I fall
back on getting the best I can afford.
