Second purchase off of Craigslist this week was the UltraSound AG 100D
acoustic amp that I had been asking about here. The first was the
Orpheum guitar I asked about. The guitar turned out to be an
excellent $20 investment.

Okay, about the amp. I had been trying to get the guy to let me see
it all week, but he had been working extra shifts. Finally, I get
over there, and he is moving and just wants to get rid of it. He
bought it new six years ago for about $575, played it for two years,
and then switched to electric guitar. He put it in the closet until
he started packing. This amp is in brand new condition, and I picked
it up for $50. I couldn't get it to feed back or distort, but I've
only run a Talman acoustic straight in. The Alesis effects seem
fantastic. Of the 16 choices, only the Room settings seem bland. I
am loving Craigslist right about now.

Two things I need to know about this amp. 1. How do you dial in the
Notch Filter, and 2. What do you use the Shape setting for. I know
it boosts the High and Lows and cuts the Mids, but when would you want
to do that?

Thanks to everyone who helped me with info on this amp prior to the
purchase. I knew what to look out for, and felt confident shelling
out all that money! LOL!

Oy, 50 bucks, what a bargain!

Notch filter, you only need it if you have feedback problems. Easiest
way to dial it in is to increase the volume until you get a steady drone
and turn the knob until you hear the drone decrease. After that set the
volume back to the playing level. It's not always effective and you may
have to experiment with amp and guitar positioning. If you're using a
preamp with a Phase Inverter switch, pressing it will sometimes help too.
When all else fails, turn it down.

The shape switch applies a Mid-range cut. It doesn't "boost" the high
and Lows. It's a purely subjecttive tonal choice. The amp doesn't have
a MID EQ knob, but you can use the SHAPE and the TREBLE/BASS knobs to
tailor the tone to your taste. Experiment until you find what you like.
