John

John,
I think you do not understand how closely the world watches US
domestic politics. Who we elect and how we elected them has a great
deal to do with how world nations will have to act on the world stage.
We are such a bull in a china shop.

Chris's detailed knowledge of recent US general elections is not
unusual for a Brit.

He is wrong about one thing:
The first time that more than half the eligible population vote will
be the first time in USA history that has ever happened.

We had higher than 50% turnout in the late nineteenth century.
Daniel

Daniel,

I think you do not understand Chris' fanaticism against the U.S.

John

LOL !

Fanatic now am I ? FFS !! That is comical and as bloody stupid a thing
John
that I could ever read from you.

CR

*sigh*
I know I'm going to regret this, but being a friend involves
responsibilities and I refuse to shirk those responsibilities.

Yes, Chris.
You are certainly viewed as a fanatic by some people in this newsgroup.
Rational, intelligent people who are far better read and educated than you
give them credit for.

That is not John's fault, nor is it a flaw of his to feel this way.

It's his opinion and although it can't be backed up by statistics, I
sincerely believe that he is correct and that most people who post here do
indeed view you as a fanatic (and a bit of a wingnut to boot).

I am telling you this as a friend. and not as an adversary.
You welcomed me into your home and treated me like family.
For that, I will always be grateful, I will always consider you a friend
and it will take a bit more than a difference of opinion to change that.
At least, it will take more on my part to change that view;
I don't pretend to speak for you.

However, because of that relationship, I feel compelled to tell you the
truth as I see it.
John's view of you is not unique.

Whether you believe it or not, it pained me to write this.
I expect you to be angry with me for writing this, but my personal code of
ethics tells me I'd be remiss as a friend if I failed to make you aware of
how you are viewed.
I take the concept and ideals of friendship seriously.

Unfortunately that same code of ethics forces me to tell you that I agree
with your critics.

Sincerely,
Bob Dorgan

Thanks Bob. That is fair enough. I'm not angry with you or anyone else at
all for any reason - nor for holding a different or opposing viewpoint nor
disagreeing with me partly or totally.

It angers me to be called an anti-American - because it is a very stupid
thing to say. I'm not alone in this call for the truth on 9/11 either. Such
accusations make millions of Americans who hold the same views also
anti-American when they are anything but.

Are the true patriots those who support a Govt. cover-up or those who want
truth and justice ? Better re-appraise what American values are then ?

9/11 and the truth about 9/11 is a contentious issue and due to become
hugely more contentious in the next few years. I've studied this for the
last 6 years in some depth and I will not be swayed from the standpoint that
the US Govt. are lying through their teeth on this issue.

My views are not unique in any shape way or form, but rather are shared by
millions of Americans and millions around the world in varying degrees.

We had a few songs in last night's session (a really truly great night)
about 9/11 (the anniversary of). They were/are all about love, forgiveness
and remembering those who died.

I've gone out of my way to read a great deal on both US elections and 9/11
from a huge variety of sources and the subjects both interest me. Some
people also may believe that you've had two squeaky clean elections where
the best guy won fairly - I don't.

This is supposed to be an International newsgroup. But it sometimes seems
like Americans can say what they want about any issue on-topic or off; but
some - conversely - believe that others outside the country better not
criticise the USA in any shape way or form.

That's not going to happen is it. It isn't going to silence me.

It hurts me to see America doing the dumbest things. It hurts me to see
criminals in power cheating, lying and killing en-masse to achieve their
evil goals and to retain power. I believe fundamentally that the American
people are good; but what is done in their name often is pure evil.

I'll keep my opposing views thanks and respect yours too. I think the truth
is going to emerge and then we'll see who the 'wingnuts' and fanatics - many
who are trying to silence dissention - really are. We'll recall this post
then OK. Best to you.
