Howdy Folks!
I had a pretty fun, albeit short evening tonight. Keith
Reynolds and I met at one of our favorite coffee houses for a
little brew and music. I started the night with John Prine's
"Angel From Montgomery" while Keith got his guitar ready. He
jumped in with some pretty tasty licks that really made the
song sound great. From there, we did a few "crowd favorites"
ranging from the Beatles to Crosby-Stills-Nash. Of course,
there was some nice "Texas" music thrown in, as I always do.
All in all, it was a lot of fun, even though our "set" was
only about 20 minutes long.
Keith and I need to get out and play together more often. It
has been way too long!
Cheers!

One of the few things you got in Texas that I envoy are the
Flatliners. What a great group. My playing partner Eric has
got us doing some of there songs. Heck all we have in Iowa to
brag about are corn and hogs :-)
Larry
By chance, Larry, did you mean the "Flatlanders" - Joe Ely, Jimmy
Dale Gilmore and Butch Han***?
-Raf
There is a group called The Flatliners: Eric Taylor, Vince Bell,
and Stephen Fromholz. Raf, you're slipping... :-)
Ed Maier
Very much so, Ed. I hadn't heard of the Flatliners. I have,
however, heard each of it's members on their own, and, I think, once
together. Fromholz has been working really hard to come back from his
stroke.

On July 15, 2001, those three, Lyle Lovett, Michael Martin Murphy, and
Robert Earl Keen were all on ACL for what I think was a celebration of
Texas' singer songwriters. I taped the show (in .mpg).
Ed Maier
Okay, Ed, I missed you at D/FW this year. Ye know how Ken glues himself to
me when yer not there. BTW, I expect a copy of that show next time ye see
me.
:-)
