Maybe we could get better results if we got the 200 buck Washburn and
then spent the remaining 2000 bucks on a good mic and mic preamp. Yeah,
that's the ticket...
I've been running into 000 Blueridges that would easily exercise the
fine qualities of a good signal chain. In fact, they've been better than
most all the new Martin 000's I've played in the last few years.
Plenty of folks have spent enough on kit, buying low, then a little
higher, then again and again, until they've spent more in total than a
really fine signal chain would have cost them. A pair of good mics and a
good preamp might never need "updating" or "upgrading".
But all by itself, a good preamp opens new sonic vistas, regardless of
the mic(s) feeding it.
