The longer you wait the worse it's likely to get, as you'll catch the loose
binding and pull it away from the body as you have no doubt already found.
While it ain't artistic, in order to secure the loose bit while you're
touring I would suggest a few short lengths ( say 2" strips, with an inch
on top and an inch on the side) of good quality masking tape. At least then
you won't be pulling off any more of it.
Do not leave the tape on there more than a few days at a stretch. Masking
tape can go hard on you and leave an ugly residue which is a chore to
remove. It will be o.k. if you just change the stuff every week until you
can get in to your tech.
The less gluing and touch-up your repairman has to do the better ( and
cheaper).

The binding on my HD-28 is separating from the body...right at the
"waist" bit on the bottom of the guitar where, if one is sitting whilst
playing, the instrument comes into contact with your leg.
I first noticed it a few weeks ago, consulted Glenn my tech-guy and he
said I should get it in soon to have it repaired. Of course as luck has
it, I was leaving to go on this tour in the next couple of days after I
spoke with him and do not have a spare playable guitar , so I took the
Martin with me.
Well, the binding issue has gotten a bit worse and I was wondering if
anyone has any short term solutions to hold it in place until I can get
it into Glenn after Memorial day.
So any creative ideas out there would be appreciated. I have a hugely
busy week coming up where the guitar will be putting in a lot of hours
and having the binding loose is not only pissing me off, but I am
afraid it may be not good for the guitar.
So have at it O Wise Ones.
