Yes I was thinking that too - NOT. I haven't ever bought anything on
e-Bay. And I wouldn't buy a musical instrument this way.

The one thing that can be said, is that it is a powerful Internet tool for
bringing potential buyers and sellers together and allows people a
marketplace for obscure and specialist things.

But if normal retail selling activity of all sorts can be abused and it is,
then so can eBay and even the scoring system that eBay use. Why we should
expect different standards of behaviour on the Internet as compared to face
to face selling, I find bemusing.

For instance if you were selling ad space to traders and you knew some of
those customer traders were criminals thieves and targeting the vulnerable -
would you still take their money?

That is exactly what the Yellow Pages all around the world do - take the
money and stand back knowingly whilst people get ripped off. I've done work
in this area and seen it first hand.

Today it's a question of take the money and look the other way.
