Hi Toby
I'm looking for a small acoustic... Any opinions?

I bought the Martin LX1E two months ago and I am quite satisfied but
you ought to know what you are getting. Most of the small Martins are
made of some artificial material, i.e. not wood. The model I got has a
solid spruce top, though, plus it has built-in electronics. IMO the
guitar sounds moderately good acoustically...really good considering
it's size...and when recorded it sounds surprisingly good, I was
actually overwhelmed by this. BTW, I am preparing for a couple of gigs
with a female singer/songwriter and I lent her my Little Martin. I
can't get it back, she really likes it sound :o).
I am sure the Larrivee parlor guitar is in a totally different class
but then again, it is not quite a travel size guitar, is it? I
recommend that you check out the Baby Taylors before making a decision.
I knew a guy who had the mahogany Baby Taylor and AFAIR it sounded
better acoustically than my Little Martin. It didn't have the
pickup/preamp, though.
