I just purged a bunch of programs from my computer. I still have 3 Java

Java is a computer programming language. What you have on your
computer is the "run-time", which allows programs written in Java to
run on your computer. Chances are you don't have anything that needs
them at all, but then again, they got installed on your computer for
some reason...
Anyway, you probably can at least get rid of updates 2 and 4. And I'd
say you can probably get rid of all of them. If there is a program
that needs the J2SE run-time, it will probably just download it again
when you run that program. But chances are, it was just some website
that you went to that needed it, and you'll probably only need it if
you go to that website again. But then, it might be a website you
don't go to anymore.
So what I would do, if I were you, is: back up the three updates to a
CDR- they only cost a dime or so, so why not? Then uninstall all of
them. If you ever need itagain, the website that needs it will do
what it needs to do to re-download the run-time. That's how it got on
your computer in the first place, probably.
I wouldn't even bother to back them up. Just uninstall them.
If any program that you routinely use doesn't seem to work properly (You'll
probably get a Java Runtime error...missing module or some such error) just
go to the Java website and download the latest version (6.1?).
