Hi Steve,
what kind of spruce is it? How much clear trunk is at the base before the
branches start?
Is there some obvious health reason or is it leaning to one side, and that
makes you think it might fall? Perhaps the soil is so saturated the roots
might fail?
I've been hanging with some tree service guys in my area, and it has been
very interesting to get hands on with the tree thing. I just acquired two
very large Silver Maple trees (in exchange for helping to take them down),
and some of it is awesome!
I haven't gotten into the two Engleman Spruce trees that we took down last
fall, but there are some nice clear sections and definitely some soundboards
hiding in there.
I hope the tree doesn't come down on your house, but if it does, you should
at least try to get a new guitar out of it!
