You've had a bunch of good ideas so far. In addition to Spybot,
AdAware, and Microsoft AntiSpyware, I also use A-squared. It's pretty
good at ferreting out trojans. It's freeware and can be found at
http://www.emsisoft.com/en/.
I would also recommend going to the support forums at
www.iamnotageek.com (http://forum.networktechs.com/index.php) or at
Major Geeks (http://forums.majorgeeks.com/). They will help you get rid
of all types of malware with specific directions. They will probably
recommend other programs like HijackThis. They really helped me
recently when a particularly ugly nasty got into our home computer.
