How about trying carpet shampoo, the kind that comes from a can and comes
out as foam for spot cleaning carpets. Then air dry the bag. It might
work, and it would be a fairly cheap thing to try. I definately wouldn't
try to machine wash it. Hand washing it in the bath tub, taking a scrub
brush to the effected area, and air drying might be another option to try.
If none of this works trash it and get a new one.
