Bad news...Good news...a call to action

Bad news first:
Most of you saw the For Sale posting for Johnny Asia's 12 string Taylor. He
was forced to sell it to buy medicine.
John is ill, doesn't have insurance and is struggling to make ends meet with
the high cost of his antibiotics.

We make a lot of noise on this newsgroup that RMMGA is like a community.
What the hell kind of community lets one of their own sell their most prized
possession to buy medicine?

In a community you take care of your own.
Yeah, Johnny has been a PIA a few times, but he's our PIA.
He's gonna be pissed I'm doing this, but tough ***...let him be pissed. I'd
rather him be pissed at me than sit on my hands and do nothing.

The good news:

The guitar has been sold, but it's not too late to rectify our immediate
lack of response to his emergency.
The buyer has paid for the guitar but has agreed to wait a few days to see
if RMMGA will respond to a member in distress.

So, what do you say?
A few bucks for a fellow musician will go a long way toward helping out John
and reinforce our own sense of community.

The guitar sold for $600, but if we can come close, the buyer will probably
donate the rest. If we raise more than the purchase price, the balance can
go to John for future medical bills.

Let's not let this get tied up in a lot of debate.
If you don't want to participate, just say nothing and let the rest of us
move on it.

I've often been amazed at the generosity and good will on this newsgroup.
Amaze me again.
Email me for my mailing address and details on how to make a donation.
You should probably just do it now, because I'm gonna hound you 'til you do!
