Michael, without trying to kill a dead horse... this poor belabored thread
has been hijacked enough... I want to just clarify my own feelings on this
so there is no misunderstanding. It was YOUR comment that I reacted to, not
Dorgan's. I'm not even going to bother responding to your half-baked "why
was it offensive" question. However, be clear that I found nothing
inappropriate, offensive, or patronizing in what Dorgan said... and I doubt
anybody else did. Dorgan is well known to many members of this community.
He has met many RMMGA'ers in real life, he is respected, and he is known to
be a reasonable person. What he did is no different than what I would do
(and have done) when somebody made an inappropriate or rude remark that I
felt might be offensive toward somebody else, whether that somebody else was
male or female. I would step in and say how I felt about it. So, let's not
twist this around and make your problem somebody else's. I see this in my
practice every single day. The guy who drinks and says, "Well, she drove me
to drink, it's her fault." Or the guy who beats up his wife and then says,
"She pissed me off and made me hit her." Uh-uh, doesn't cut it with me. I
hold people accountable for their own actions. I have no further comments
to make on this part of the thread. But... more below....

Okay, Michael... so... let's get back to the music stuff. This started out
as George's thread, about his CD. What about yours? I am confused about
some things. You claim to not have gotten your name on the CD Baby waiting
list, and you said in another thread that you were "giving away" your CD's
at the open mic in Minneapolis. But, if you are who you have claimed (on
other newsgroups) to be, then... you have your CD listed on Amazon and on
other websites as well. Isn't that just as good? Or maybe I don't
understand how the CD business works. And if you are trying to sell your
CD's... then why would you use an alias here? I mean, this is an acoustic
guitar newsgroup, maybe somebody on here would be interested in buying your
CD. So, why the fake name? Then again, some of those other newsgroups
accused you of "stealing" the name and identify of that guy who supposedly
produced that CD, the one with the pig song on it... so who knows if you're
him or not.
But let's assume for a moment that you are. You obviously are
very interested in music. You've posted on multiple music groups... RMMGA,
Dylan, The Doors, The Beatles, Springsteen, Grateful Dead, U2, rec.guitar,
Songwriting, etc. So clearly you have a real interest in music, and
something to offer here other than trying to troll. "Your" website even
says that your songs are "quirky talk singy" kinda things. I guess that's
sort of like what George's music is like, huh? Your music is supposedly
about "relationships, society, about the sexes, about old cars, about
progress, about experiences, about death and yes, even about love.
Sometimes there's a political subtext, sometimes a social comment, sometimes
sarcasm and usually there's humor, and there's always intelligence." And
hey, you've even posted on some Microsoft newsgroups... and on Mensa.
Intelligence? So, this does NOT sound like a guy who should be "clueless",
now, does it? Doesn't sound at all like a guy who wouldn't understand why
certain comments might be offensive. Not a guy who writes such sensitive
songs.
Then there is your obvious interest in politics.. you've posted on
Rush Limbaugh, Society/Liberalism, Noam Chomsky, Clinton-Whitewater, Michael
Moore, Politics, Atheist/Agnostic.... hey, I haven't even looked through
those posts so I'm not sure which way your political leanings go, nor does
it
matter to me. At least, unless you have some aliases (which is always
possible), you are not posting on neo-Nazi websites like some people on
here. (Isn't the human being complex? The one who posts to the neo-Nazi
groups is the very one who lists on his professional website that he
supports and serves charitable organizations... the duality of human nature
never ceases to amaze me.) I point all of this out because... you're
clearly not a stupid person. If you are who you have claimed elsewhere to
be, then you've got a lot of good music-related stuff to offer and share on
this newsgroup. So... what was this thread all about, Michael?
