Yes, very nicely put.  This not a forum for a quiz.  We like to know
answers.  If there is some information to be imparted, it should be
done without a fanfare..
We have no time to waste on useless enquirees.

Actually, quizzes are (well, used to be!) quite common on this forum.
The thing is, they are clearly marked as quizzes, with the quizzer
providing the right answer(s) in due course. The problem with Mr
Jayaraman's quizzing is manifold: most of his "quizzes" are actually
challenges couched in somewhat offensive terms; the actual question
being asked is often not clear (like the Rafi question on another
thread); even when they are bona fide quizzes, he often does not
provide the answer at all. There are, consequently, few takes for his
'quizzes'.

Warm regards,
Abhay

I agree with your analysis Abhay.  Most of the quizzes are attention
seeking.  Mr. Jayraman has a very good knowledge of film music.  His
taste in music is very poor from what I have learnt from his
selections.  I don't think he can enlighten anybody and certainly not
me.

Warm regards.

I know it is fashionable and popular to attack and make fun of Jay in
this forum (often for good reasons) but in this case Jay has chosen to
share the songs in his group. It is sad that you chose the wrong but
popular option instead of actually checking out what he has posted. It
seems you are not interested in in the answers to your question and it
was more a way of identifying with the herd.

Kalyan

Kalyan,

I would present a slightly different POV. It is not fashionable to
make fun of Jay. He is the one who keeps pooh poohing people. He is
the one who poses questions on this forum with one and only one
objective, which is to tell the world that he know more than Hamraaz.
What is ironic is that Hamraaz has never portrayed himself as know it
all ever. He has been very humble and has done a great service in
compiling and publishing the information contained in GK volumes. Yes,
there are probably occasional errors, but they are very few and he
readily corrects them when they are brought to his attention. For
reasons not clear, Jay is extremely jealous of him. Of course, Jay
disagrees with this portrayal. But nothing else explains his continued
tirade.

So in this case, he answered his own question. Asking people to
appreciate him for that is like a kid who constantly misbehaves being
rewarded for an occasional good behavior. Respect is earned or lost by
a pattern of behavior, e.g. the late Shri Satish Kalra, who never made
any one feel small or ignorant while sharing his immense knowledge and
collection of music.

Every one has strengths and weaknesses. Jay may know a lot about music
from a certain era. But I know many people, who are as knowledgeable
if not more. There is only one thing unique about Mr. Jayaraman. He
professes no insult to any one while doing precisely the opposite.

In fact, I think, he must enjoy provoking the type of response you
found inappropriate, for he keeps at it.

Regards...

Deepak

Sorry, I missed his answer about Mukesh's first Hindi Film song with
CR. Please let me what his answer was.

According to Jay, it was a duet from film Mera Munna (1948) that
Mukesh sang with Lalita Dewoolkar. I don't remember the mukhaDa of the
song.

Deepak

Har Mandir says this info was known to him (and Harish Raghuwanshi
among others) long ago. See full text of the song no. 6 (Page 431,
HFGK Vol.II, na na ma tum ham pe hanso na piya), which was published
in the Listeners' Bulletin 69-July1987 issue, i. e. more than 23 years
ago. No, I do not have the song. He mentions one more unlisted song of
Mukesh with CR.

BTW Listeners' Bulletin is somewhat like the Corrigenda and Addenda to
HFGK volumes. I am hoping to put up all of the old LB issues starting
with 1971 (except for the last ten years) on my website when I some
time to breathe :)
